We have an enthusiastic and dynamic team developing highly advanced and novel battery technology. We have a position for a Prototype Battery Scientist or Engineer, working under the supervision of the Applied Battery Research Team Leader, to assist in the development and demonstration of a silicon based anode material for application in Li-ion batteries. We are looking for someone with a strong materials science background combined with fabrication experience in prototype electrochemical devices, preferably at degree level, combined with laboratory skills and a hands-on approach. The work will be laboratory based involving the processing of silicon based composites and their assembly as anodes into prototype Li-ion battery cells. The role will primarily involve working with established pilot line equipment to fabricate batches of prototype Li-ion cells with additional opportunities to contribute to the overall cell design/optimisation and with cell testing. Specific on the job training will be provided for the pilot line. The objective of this research role is to support the demonstration to the battery industry of a new class of silicon anode in representative prototype Li-ion battery cells assembled on a pilot line facility. Previous experience with batteries and lithium rechargeable batteries in particular would be an advantage but is not essential. Being adaptable and having the ability to work well within a team are also important. |
