Job Description:
The
Support Engineer reports to the Client Services Manager, Adaptiv
Credit ASP (Service Delivery) and enjoys a close working
relationship with individual implementation project managers and
customer account managers.
The
Support Engineer has the responsibility to build and maintain a
client relationship by means of day to day interaction, with the
client to respond to requests and issues in a timely manner.
The work will involve researching and replicating issues,
implementing workarounds and resolutions utilising database-related
configuration, scripting and testing techniques, and then
communicating those resolutions and findings to our clients in the
form of a client acceptable report.
Much
of the interaction with the customers will be either via the
telephone or via a web-based workflow system. The role may involve
occasional travel, depending on the client requirements and
location.
The
candidate will also be involved in the testing and delivery of
system upgrades, which involves packaging and testing database
upgrade scripts and procedures, data comparison testing and
reconciliation. The work
may include the production of detailed functional specifications for
new system features. This will require a detailed analysis of the
business user requirements, workflow processes.
The
role offers the opportunity for career progression to a senior
position within the group, Technical Consultancy, or Project
Management.
Job
requirements:
The
candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent numeracy skills and a
highly professional manner that shines both in person and by
telephone or e-mail. It is also expected that the successful
candidate will have a strong sense of ownership with a genuine
desire to see outstanding issues through to resolution. The
candidate will have a quick grasp of abstract concepts and enjoy
solving problems.
Specific
experience in credit risk or financial markets is not required,
although a general interest would be expected. Technically, the
candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Windows-based environments
and experienced in general Office tools such as Excel. Ideally, the
candidate will have some experience with databases such as SQL
Server, Sybase or Oracle, however training will be provided.
Programming experience is not required, although prior
experience in XML, web programming or VB would be an advantage.
An appreciation of multi-tier, multi-server application
environments would also be an advantage.
