Milton Park Jobs - nexeon

Job Title:  Polymer Research Scientist
Location:  Milton Park
Job type: Full time permanent position

Purpose of the Job:

We have an enthusiastic and dynamic team developing highly advanced and novel battery technology. We have a position for a Polymer Research Scientist, working under the supervision of the Applied Battery Research Team Leader, to assist in the development of polymeric binder systems and composite electrode formulation and processing for application in Li-ion batteries.

The candidate:

We are looking for someone with a strong polymer background, preferably up to PhD level, combined with laboratory experience and a hands-on approach.  The work will be laboratory based involving the selection, processing and characterisation of polymers suitable for use as binders in Li-ion composite electrodes.  The role will also include the formulation of polymeric based composite electrodes, their mixing in solvent slurries and coating onto metallic substrates.   The objective of this polymer research role is to support the demonstration to the battery industry of a new class of silicon anode in representative prototype Li-ion battery cells assembled on a pilot line facility. Previous experience with batteries and lithium rechargeable batteries in particular would be an advantage but is not essential. Being adaptable and having the ability to work well within a team are also important.

The Company:

Nexeon Limited is a spin-off from Imperial College London and is based in South Oxfordshire. We are a research based company developing advanced anode technology for use in Li-ion batteries. The potential of Nexeon’s battery technology has already been recognised with participation on the recent UK government sponsored Cool and Clean mission to the US and with two Rushlight awards including one for Clean Energy. As a result of our success and to support the next phase of commercialisation of our technology we are going through a second round of recruitment to expand our existing team of scientists and engineers. As a result of this expansion Nexeon will be moving to new premises in Milton Park. The role is a full time permanent position. We will offer a competitive remuneration package based on the skills and previous experience of the successful candidate.

Additional information:

If you think you have the right skills and would like to join a small, growing and enthusiastic team working in an exciting area of technology we would like to hear from you.
