We are the leading software supplier to the Health and Leisure industry in UK and are making inroads into the Education sector. Part of the Constellation Software Inc. conglomerate, our HQ is in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. We also have sales and service offices in Glasgow and Sydney and offshore development / QA in India and Pakistan.  

The role:

This is a position for a Senior Developer with a solid understanding and in-depth experience of Microsoft development environments VB, C# ASP .NET, SQL, and e-commerce. You will be required to work on full life cycle using agile methodologies. As the Senior Developer, you will be “hands on” for our core product portfolio Plus2 which focuses on health and fitness systems, including Kiosk and Online Booking. You will assist and collaborate with our teams in Pakistan and India to deliver on time, and ensure that best practices are followed by developers through pair programming, peer reviews and standards. A team player, you will work closely building credible and professional relationships with our Technical Development Leads, Product Managers, Designers, Customer Support, and Early Adopter Customers. The Gladstone systems environment is migrating to Web services and SOA architectures and the systems are used by staff and consumers through different media devices including desktops, kiosk, web portals, fat clients, thin clients and Citrix as well as through hardware devices turnstiles, barriers, mifare card readers, x1010 readers, biometric, cashless vending and mobiles. With strong, effective communication skills, both written and verbal (English proficiency), and experience of working in multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment, your credentials will demonstrate your ability to deliver results while managing a number of competing tasks in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Ø This is a “hands on” software development role and adheres to
      Engineering’s Agile life cycle methodology
Ø Analyse software requirements; write unit tests, and recommend
      the solution that best suits the needs of the requirement
Ø Identify product impact and possible implementation options
Ø Creation and maintenance of application code that meets design
      specifications, follows internal standards, and is easy to maintain
Ø Test and review code for technical accuracy, standards, and
      functional compliance to the design
Ø Participate in the investigation and resolution of software defects
Ø Creation of functional specifications and design documents for
      software enhancements
Ø Maintain product documentation to reflect enhancements and
      other software changes
Ø Work within deadlines in relation to product release timelines
Ø Consistently complete assigned development tasks in required
      timeframes
Ø Fulfill administrative reporting requirements
Ø Other duties as assigned by management

Job Qualifications:

To meet this challenge you must possess a high level of initiative and professional credibility gained in the following skills:
Ø University Degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related
      discipline
Ø Minimum of 7 years experience in software application
      development of which 2 years have been at senior level using
Ø NET and ideally, .NET framework 3.5
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ø Experience of developing in a team environment
Ø Good understanding of OOP will be an asset

Additionally, experience with any number of the following will be a distinct advantage:

Ø Test Driven Development.
Ø   Unit/Integration/Acceptance Testing.
Ø B2C, B2B environments.
Ø   Integration
Ø Time estimating, Internet, intranet or extranets
Ø CMS system & CRM system
Ø Mobile platforms
Ø Multi site & Multi language
Ø Dot Net Nuke
Ø Hardware integration (e.g. turnstile, RFI card readers)
