Education Developer

The Company:

Job Purpose:
We are looking for a capable and experienced developer familiar with commercial deployments of ASP.NET and C# based windows, web applications and web service architecture. You will be involved in new development initiatives as well as maintaining established products. As a key developer, you will be responsible for ensuring that significant and critical areas of the product are developed to the highest levels of quality possible. You will be interacting with cutting edge Microsoft technologies, and be expected to have a good understand of a broad range of programming related disciplines. As part of this infrastructure, you will be expected to work in pair (XP) programming environments, as well as having experience of agile methodologies – including interaction with offshore teams. You will also be expected to have interaction with QA/BA and Operational business units, and will report directly to the Product Development Manager, alongside other exceptional calibre developers in the education team, as well as other business areas of the business – in order to deliver a market leading solution.
 

The Responsibilities of this role are:

·         Hands-on software development of the Enterprise suite of
      products
·         Ensuring high-quality, maintainable designs, code and
      documentation are delivered to schedule
·         Delivering and presenting technical overviews and proof of
      concepts
·         Conduct and participate in reviews of your own and others
      work to ensure the sharing of technical best practice
·         Provide clear and consistent feedback to Product
      Management and internal business units within the
      organisation 

 Ideally you will have the following qualifications and skills:

·         Degree in Computer Science / Engineering
·         C#, ASP.NET, Web Services
·         Microsoft.NET 1.1 / 2.0 / 3.0 /3.5
·         Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 (T-SQL)
·         XML / XSL
 

 The following experience is essential:

·         Minimum of 4 years experience using .NET (C#)
·         Exposure to Microsoft .NET framework 3.5
·         Good understanding of OOP / Design Patterns
·         SQL – Good knowledge of programming, and basic
      administration
·         Working in team based source code controlled environments
·         The following experience is desirable:
·         AJAX
·         UML
·         XP / Agile methodologies
·         Interfacing with hardware devices
·         Knowledge of CruiseControl/SVN build teams
·         GDI+ / Windows Application Development

You will also have a thorough understanding of the full software development life cycle including:

·         Requirements Gathering, High Level and Detailed Design
·         Test Driven/Agile Development, Unit/Integration/Acceptance
      Testing
·         Build Automation and Continuous Integration

Based in Oxfordshire, the Company has sales offices in Glasgow, Dublin (Ireland) and Sydney (Australia), in addition to development facilities in Sonderborg (Denmark) and Karachi (Pakistan).
