Graduate Trainee – Business Strategy

Reporting to: Strategy Manager
Job level:  1 – Graduate Trainee
Purpose of the Job: To support the Strategy Manager in the Programme Office in the day to day management of the business.
   
Key responsibilities

1.       Working on the revision of the Corporate Business Plan and
      developing a mechanism for regular review
2.       Preparation, documentation and attendance of bi-weekly
      management meetings
3.       Preparation for meetings involving PowerPoint presentations,
      general materials, agendas and documentation
4.       Support the organisation of the annual General Managers’
      meetings including attendance and minute taking
5.       Management of ad hoc projects including projects for the
      CEO and other members of the Senior Executive Team
6.       Manager and facilitator of confidential projects
7.       Attendance at seminar meetings, minute taking and follow
      up actions to meetings
8.       Working with corporate guidelines and frameworks.

Physical factors:

The postholder should be smartly presented and may be required to work outside normal contracted hours.  There may be a requirement to travel, with occasional overnight stays.  A clean driving license is preferable.

Technical skills: 

·         Intermediate level user of Microsoft Office suite including
      Powerpoint and Excel
·         Project management
·         Finance for non-financial managers
·         Familiarity and working knowledge of internet
·         Basic business knowledge

Knowledge and previous experience: 

Previous experience gained from working in a commercial organisation or with international exposure/foreign language skills would be advantageous. Past working knowledge of Microsoft suite would also be useful.  

Knowledge and experience of Achilles would be advantageous.  

Person specification:

This role gives the opportunity for the post holder to work regularly with the Strategy Manager and the senior management team, with exposure to all the component parts of managing a commercial business.  The post requires a level of self-assurance, confidence, and decisiveness in dealing with senior personnel, with the discretion to be able to refer back to the Strategy Manager as appropriate. The post gives an ideal entry to further professional development within Achilles internationally
