| Purpose of the Job: | To provide Achilles Information with effective design/deployment and maintenance of SQL Server databases |
| Key Responsibilities: | |

Support and troubleshooting of a wide range of SQL Server
systems including 32/64 bit; clustering;
mirroring; replication;
DTS and SSIS packages
·
Monitoring; base lining; capacity planning and tuning
database
servers
·
Management and maintenance of data; including backups;
restores; data fixes; disaster recovery; data
migration and data
archiving
·
Database design; development and reporting in collaboration
with
application developers
·
Installation; configuration and security of SQL Server
services
according to best practices and company standards
·
Performance troubleshooting and tuning through profiling;
query
plan analysis, design reviews and server;
database and code
tuning
·
Teamwork with the database; infrastructure; ISP; development;
support; test and release teams
·
Delivery on time through planning; working to agreed
specifications; prioritisation; scheduling and
good time
management
·
Application development and problem solving through analysis,
design, reviews, research and troubleshooting

Expertise in

Database Architecture, especially distributed systems

SQL Server Production Database Administration
·
SQL Server Development Database Administration
·
The Software development process
·
SQL Coding Standards
·
SQL Server Best Practices
Proficiency (typically 3 years relevant commercial development experience) with:

SQL Server 2000; 2005 and 2008
·
DTS and SSIS packages
·
Transactions; locking; error handling
·
Production and maintenance of documentation
·
Source code management; change control and release
processes
Familiar with:

SQL Server clustering; mirroring
·
A variety of application types such as Internet, intranet or
e-commerce business systems
·
SQL Server Reporting Services
·
SQL Server Analysis Services
·
SQL Server monitoring tools
·
Server hardware; SANs and Networking
·
Project planning and the role of project management
·
Quality management issues
·
MS Certified or proven completion of MS accredited training
